Boys Hockey:
Red Wing 5 Chaska 4- The Wingers broke a two game losing streak with their win at Chaska.
Dayton Johnson scored just 26 seconds into the game to give the Wingers a 1-0 lead but the Hawks grabbed a 2-1 lead later in the period on goals by Brooks Wineberg and Brady Roers.
Taylor Hanson scored at 7:07 of the second period for the Wingers to make it 2-2. Dayton Johnson's second goal at 9:35 put the Wingers up 3-2 but Brady Roers scored two minutes later for the Hawks and it was 3-3 after two periods.
Marcus Dodge tallied on the power play at 2:19 of the third period to put the Wingers up 4-3 but Roers scored again for the Hawks 30 seconds later to make it a 4-4 game. The Wingers Mike Stegora netted the game winner at 5:01 of the period with taylor Hanson picking up an assist.
Jack Burkel had 30 saves for the Wingers while Thomas Hanson had 42 saves for Chaska.
Red Wing is 9-8-1 on the season and 6-3-1 in the Missota Conference.
The Wingers embark on their big northern Minnesota trip with a game Friday at Crookston at 7:30pm. Saturday the Wingers play at #5 Class A power Thief River Falls with both games on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE with "Action" Jack Colwell.
Girls Hockey:
Chaska/Chanhassen 8 Red Wing 4- The Stormhawks clinched the Missota Conference championship with their win over the Wingers Tuesday night at Prairie island Arena.
The Wingers Maddie Hardyman notched a power play goal at 8:37 of the first period to pen the scoring but Chaska/Chan evened the score on a power play goal by Jenna Wormuth with just nine seconds left in the first period.
The Stormhawks exploded for five second period goals including four goal in the first 6:51 of the period. Casey Lindquist scored two of the goals. Emily Stegora's power play goal with 1:43 left in the second period cut the Stormhawks lead to 6-2.
Kaitlin Storo scored 30 seconds into the third period to put the Stormhawks up 7-2. The Wingers Nicole Schammel scored two goals 61 seconds apart later in the period to cut the lead to 7-4 but Storo scored again with just over three minutes left to close out the scoring.
The penalty filled affair saw Chaska/Chan go 3-6 on the pwer play while the Wingers were 2-7.
Wingers goalie Lisa Nibbe had 51 saves while Laura Chalupsky had 29 saves for the Stormhawks
Red Wing is 15-7-1 on the year and 9-2 in the Missota Conference and play at New Prague Thursday night in the final conference game. Section 1A seedings come out this weekend and the Wingers are still expected to get the #1 seed and a first round bye.
Boys Basketball:
Holy Angels 74 Red Wing 61- The Wingers trailed by just one point at the half but the Stars went on a 10-0 run to start the second half to secure the home court win.
Jordan Dembley had 18 points, Danny Sullivan 14 and Parker Bredow 12 for the Stars. Jon Sevlie led the Wingers with 12 points. Joel Newman and Ryan Boldt added 11 points. The Wingers played without talented freshman Ty Buck, who suffered a foot injury in practice Monday.
The Wingers are 5-12 overall and 1-5 in the Missota Conference and will try to break their five game losing streak Friday with a home game against Farmington.
Goodhue 53 Lake City 43- The Wildcats gained revenge for their earlier loss at Lake City with a solid win Tuesday night in Goodhue.
The Wildcats Ryan Bigelow had 14 points, Michael Mc Namara had 13 and Tyson Dicke 10. Zach Hinrichs had 14 points for Lake City with Luke Bremer adding nine points.
Lake City is 10-8 and have lost four straight games. Goodhue is now 13-5 on the season.
Cannon Falls 59 Pine Island 27- Cedric Dicke had 22 points to lead the Bombers to the win.
Zumbrota-Mazeppa 71 Triton 58- Nathaniel Rauen had 25 points for the Cougars in their win.

Elmwood 67 Plum City 56- Chase Luebker had 23 points for the Blue Devils in their loss and now has 980 career points.
Girls Basketball:
Goodhue 55 Lake City 50- Mikayla Miller poured in 30 points as Goodhue turned back the upset bid by Lake City on the Tigers court.
Alexa Blair had 17 points to lead Lake City.
Goodhue is 18-3 on the season. Lake City is 7-11.
