Boys Basketball:

Red Wing 77 Prior Lake 60-Pat Kelly lit up the Lakers for a career high 32 points as the Wingers racked up their third straight win.  Colin Quinn had 12 points and Isaac Sevlie 11 as the Wingers improved to 6-18 overall and 3-10 in the Missota Conference.

The Wingers close out the regular season by hosting Farmington Friday on Senior night.  "Action" Jack Colwell has the broadcast on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE and on the web at www.1250kcue.com.  The pre-game show is at 6:40pm with the tip off at 7pm.

WIAA Division 2 Regional: Baldwin-Woodville 53 Ellsworth 43

WIAA Division 4 Regional: Plum City 65 Pepin-Alma 43-Chase Luebker poured in 30 points as the 7th seeded Blue Devils surprised the 2nd seeded Eagles.  Travis Heit led Pepin-Alma with 21 points.  Plum City plays at Eleva-Strum in the second round Thursday night.

Girls Basketball:

Albert Lea (11-13) at Red Wing (19-6) Section 1AAA quarterfinal on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE and on the web at www.1250kcue.com. Pre-game 6:40pm, tip off 7pm with "Action" Jack Colwell.

Action Jack's outlook: Senior co-captain Olivia Johnson's nagging knee injury is a day to day situation the Wingers will have to work through.  Tesha Buck and Megan Fleming give the Wingers long range shooting prowess.  Jen and Abby Ulveling are the other starts and both handle and pass the ball very well.  Danielle Brooks, Ashley Brooks and Macy Kelly add depth.  The Wingers need to start strong and use their uptempo style to their advantage. Albert Lea isn't your typical #7 seed and beat #3 seed Faribault earlier this season.  Nonetheless, the Wingers should advance and play another home game saturday.

Wrestling:

The MSHSL State Tournament starts today and runs through Sunday at the Xcel Energy Center.  Class A prelims are at 8pm.  Rusty Grisim at 135 is Lake City's lone state wrestler.  Zumbrota-Mazeppa wrestlers include are Grany Kyllo at 135, Colby Mehrkens at 160, Chad Matthees at 171, Ben Dahl at 189, Stu Raasch at 215 and Jordan Arndt at heavyweight.  Kenyon-Wanamingo wrestlers include Mitch Lexvold at 112, Chad Lexvold at 125, Drew Lexvold at 130, Skyler Quamme at 140, Derek Melhouse at 152 and Jarid Groth at 160.

The Wingers are on a great post season run and with a win would make their first trip to state boys hockey since 2002.  Lourdes edged Red Wing 3-2 in last years Section 1A championship game.
