Boys Basketball:  Wildcats & Tigers Advance

Goodhue 69 Glenville-Emmons 45-Blayne Erie poured in 32 points while brother Ashton had 22 to lead the Wildcats to a win over the Wolverines in the Section 1A West semi-finals Monday night at the Rochester Mayo Civic Auditorium.  Blayne Erie scored 24 of his points in the first half as Goodhue took a 37-23 lead at the break.  Ashton scored 16 of his 22 in the second half and his basket in the final minute of the game gave him 1000 for his high school career.  Blayne has over 1500 in his Wildcats career.  Peter Hanson led Glenville-Emmons with 11 points with Derek Sanderson adding 10.

Goodhue is 16-12 on the season and faces Lyle-Pacelli Saturday for the Section 1A West title at the Mayo Civic Auditorium with the pre-game show at 2:15pm and the game at 2:30pm on KWNG 106 with "Action" Jack Colwell.

Lake City 55 Byron 46 (OT)-The 4th seeded Tigers upended the top seeded Bears in the Section 1A West semis Monday night at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center Arena.  Lake City senior post Joe Beck hit a free throw with 23.7 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 45.  The Bears missed a three pointer at the buzzer and then the Tigers Marcus Jacobson scored six of his game high 18 points in overtime to lead Lake City to the win.  Joe Beck had 17 points and 19 rebounds.

Lake City is 17-9 on the season and faces #2 seed Rochester Lourdes Saturday for the Section 1AA West titile at the Mayo Civic Center with the pre-game show at 7:45pm and the tip off at 8pm on Lake Hits 95 with Mark O'Connor calling the action.

Rochester Lourdes 54 Cannon Falls 42-Cannon Falls was 0-12 on three point field goal attempts and saw their season end Monday night at the Mayo Civic Center Arena.  Cedric Dicke led Cannon Falls with 21 points.  The Bombers end their season with an 18-10 record.

Section 1A East semi-finals: Wabasha-Kellogg vs. Laneboro 6:30pm followed by Fillmore Central vs. Rushford-Peterson at 8pm at the Rochester Mayo Civic Auditorium.

Section 1AA East semi-finals: Plainview-Elgin-Millville vs. St. Charles at 6:30pm followed by La Crescent vs. Caledonia at 8pm at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center Arena.

Friday, March 12: Red Wing vs. New Prague Girls Basketball Section 1AAA championship from the Mayo Civic Center Arena.  Pre-game show 7:55pm with the tip off at 8:15pm on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE and on the web at www.1250kcue.com with "Action" Jack Colwell.

Girls Hockey: RW 12U headed to state!

The Red Wing Girls 12U  hockey team is heading to the state tournament after defeating Eden Prairie 4-3 this past weekend to get a #1 regional seeding.  The state tournament is March 18-21 at the Gardens in Warroad.  Red Wing plays their first game Friday, March 19th.
