Amateur baseball: Red Wing Aces 4 Chicago Wildcats 3- The Aces rallied for the second straight night for a dramatic one run win at the Red Wing Athletic Field. Tyler Goering started on the mound for the Aces and gave up two runs in his five inning stint. Aaron Johnson pitched the sixth inning and gave up a run . Jordan Warren pitched the final three innings for Red Wing and held the Wildcats at bay while the Aces rallied. The Aces closed the gap with two runs in the seventh inning. Warren's rbi single and a wild pitch accounted for the runs. In the ninth inning Warren led off with a single and Chris Guetzlaff's drive to left fell in and skipped under the glove of the Wildcats outfielder with Warren going to third base and Guetzlaff moving to second base. Kyle Blahnik was next and delivered the game winning two run single to right-center field on a 2-1 pitch. Warren was the winning pitcher for the second straight night for Red Wing as the Aces improved to 16-6 on the season Red Wing plays at Eau Claire at 7:30pm tonight with Augie Lindmark getting the start on the mound for the Aces. Lake City 3 Caledonia 0- Serpents pitcher Kyle Sursely tossed a complete game two hitter, striking out 11 while walking three in the win. Jordan Rishavy hit a fourth inning home run and Brett Gwaltney had an rbi for Lake City in the win. The Serpents are off to a sizzling 13-1 start and play at Red Wing Friday at 7:30pm on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE and on the web at www.1250kcue.com. The pre-game show is at 7:10pm. The Aces will honor Lake City baseball icon Tom Gwaltney before the game. Cannon Falls 16 River Falls 11- The Bears had 16 hits and took advatage of 12 walks by the Fighting Fish for the wild slugfest win at John Burch Park. Logan Godfrey led the onslaught by going 4-6 with two doubles and four RBI. The Bears next game is a CCVL matchup at Dundas Friday night. American Legion baseball: Red Wing ran into a buzzsaw Wednesday night at Eastview, falling 11-1 in six innings in game one and 11-0 in five innings in game two. Justin Cunningham was the losing pitcher in game one while Justin Lance absorbed the loss in the second game. The only highlight was Alex Quiding's long home run in game one. Red Wing is now 2-6 on the season and hosts Prescott at 7:30pm tonight at the Athletic Field.
