American Legion Baseball:

Red Wing 2 Farmington 1 (Game 1)  Red Wing 12 Farmington 7 (Game 2)-

Red Wing swept a twinbill from Farmington Monday night at at Athletic Field, winning a low scoring affair in the first game and a slugfest in the nightcap.

In the first game, Henry Jaeger singled and scored the game winning run on Austin Anderson's double down the left field line in the bottom of the seventh inning.  Justin Cunningham fired a complete game win on the mound for Red Wing.

In game two, Red Wing bolted to an 8-2 lead, saw Farmington rally to within 8-7 and then pull away again late for the win.

Colin Mc Kim led Red Wing in the second game by going 4-5 with three doubles and five RBI.  Alex Quiding, Justin Lance, Henry Jaeger and Marcus Plein had two hits and one RBI apiece and Plein was the winning pitcher.

Red Wing has won three straight games and is now 5-7 on the year.  Up next:  West St. Paul at Red Wing Wednesday 7:30pm.

Amateur Baseball:  Aces vs. Aces

The Red Wing Aces host the Owatonna Aces tonight at 7:30pm at the Athletic Field.  Red Wing is 18-6 and looking for their fifth straight win.  Owatonna edged Red Wing 3-2 in 13 innings in Owatonna back on June 4th.

CCVL All Stars Named

The 2010 CCVL vs. CVL All-Star Game is set for Wednesday, July 7th at 8pm at Veterans Park in Hastings.

Each team in the CCVL nominated 3-7 players for the game and league managers determined the starters in voting.  The reserves were selected Monday night at a league meeting.

The CCVL starters: pitcher Mark Moriarty of Hastings, catcher David Olson of Miesville, first baseman Javier Guevara of Dundas, second baseman Mike Ludwig of Dundas, shortstop Kyle Blahnik of Red Wing, third baseman Rich Burr of Cannon Falls (Burr can't attend and Caleb Schmidt of Randolph starts in his place) and outfielders Brandon Roloff of Dundas, Carson Jones of Dundas and Matt Vanderbosch of Miesville.

The CCVL reserves are pitchers Adam Barta of Hastings, Keith Meyers and Cory Hedeen of Cannon Falls, Chris Olean and Erik Olson of Miesville, Charlie Ruud of Dundas and T.J. Sigstad of Northfield.  Outfielders include Brett Gadient and Andy Schilling of Red Wing and Joe Robinson of Hampton.  Infielders include Nate Otto and Andrew Hansen of Miesville and Jordy Horsch of Hastings.  Jimmy Bohmbach of Red Wing is the reserve catcher.  Utility players are Troy Deden of Northfield, Derrick Pfeffer of Hastings and Andrew Werner of Miesville.

A home run derby starts at 7pm before the game with three players from each league competing.
