Amateur Baseball: Red Wing Aces 8 Rochester Royals 5- The Aces broke out their offensive slump and broke their four game losing streak in the process by knocking off the Royals at the Athletic Field. Dave Jenson and Josh Thygesen had two hits and scored two runs apiece for the Aces Luke Halvorson started on the mound for Red Wing and gave up five runs in 41/3 innings of work before player/manager Corey Tauer came in to pitch 2 2/3's inningsof scorless relief to get the win. Tauer also had two RBI in the game. Aaron Johnson pitched the final two innings to pick up the save. The Aces are now 19-10 on the season. Hager City 5 Cannon Falls 3- The Skeeters broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday night. Two errors put Skeeters runners on base, a passed ball moved them to second and third base and Cody Furlong's two run single was the eventual game winning hit. All-Star game tonight: The CCVL vs. CVL All-Star game is tonight in Elko. The home run derby is at 7pm with the game at 8pm. Kyle Blahnik of the Red Wing Aces is the starting shortstop for the CCVL. Jimmy Bohmbach is a reserve catcher. Andy Schilling and Brett Gadient of the Aces are reserve outfielders. The Lake City Serpents host the St. Charles Sting at 7:30pm in a Twin Rivers league game. The Serpents are 15-3 on the season.
