Amateur Baseball: Red Wing Aces 5 Hastings Hawks 0- The Aces played one of their most complete games of the season in a CCVL win over the Hawks Sunday night at the Athletic Field. Aaron Johnson pitched 6 1/3 innings of two hit ball with two walks and five strikeouts to get the win for the Aces. Dustin La Rue and Augie Lindmark eached pitched 1 1/3 innings of scorless relief. The Aces took a 1-0 lead in the second inning off Hawks starter Derrick Pfeffer. Brett Gadient singled and went to third base when Andy Schilling reached on an error by Hawks third baseman Sean Dube. Schilling was picked off of first base by Pfeffer, but stayed in the run down long enough to allow Gadient to score from third base on the play. A late afternoon thunderstorm caused a 75 minute rain delay in the top of the third inning but when played resumed the Aces wasted little time in adding to their lead. Cory Thorson's two out liner to short was dropped by the Hawks Wes Hedlund and Jimmy Bohmbach followed with a two run homer to right field off Pfeffer to put the Aces up 3-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Thorson singled in the fifth inning and scored on Bohmbach's opposite field double to left to make it 4-0. The Aces final run came in the seventh inning. Kyle Blahnik doubled with one out and went to third on Thorson's third single of the game. Adam Barta came on to pitch for Hastings and was greeted by Bohmbach's single to right that scored courtesy runner Jordan Warren. Bohmbach was 3-4 with 4 RBI for the Aces. Cory Thorson was 3-4 with five other players getting one hit apiece. The Aces also turned three doubleplays and centerfielder Steve Boldt made two fine catches on back to back plays in the seventh inning. The Aces are now 20-10 overall and 9-3 in the CCVL. Hastings is 14-10 overall and 4-6 in the CCVL. The Aces host St. Paul Sport & Spine Tuesday at 7:30pm in their next game. Lake City 16 Plainview 3 (7 innings)- Kris Long had five RBI , Matt Foley 3 RBI and Matt Sandstrom tossed a complete game on the mound for the Serpents. Lake City is now 19-3 on the season. Cannon Falls 4 Savage 3- Luke Winchell's RBI double in the bottom of the ninth inning was the game winner for the Bears. Cannon Falls is 15-12 on the season. Miesville 6 Bay City 2- The Mudhens scored all six of their runs in the first two innings and cruised to the home win Sunday. Miesville is 22-3 on the season. St. Croix Falls 7 Hager City 4 (11 innings)- Chase Mellstrom's three run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning tied the game for the Skeeters but St. Croix Falls scored three in the 11th inning for the win. The Skeeters are 3-19 on the season. Plum City 10 River Falls 9- Nathan Prissel's two run single capped a three run rally in the bottom of the ninth inning for the Blues. Zack Watkins was 3-3 with a home run and three RBI for the Blues and scored the game winning run. Watkins injured his hand scoring the game winning run sliding into home plate and needed seven stitches to close the cut afterwards. American Legion Baseball: Red Wing 19 Lonsdale7 (6 innings)- Colin Mc Kim was 4-5 with two home runs and a staggering nine RBI for Red Wing. Coleman Kelly was the winning pitcher and also had two RBI. Ryan Hill added two RBI for Post 54 in the win. Red Wing is 7-9 overall and plays at Hastings tonight at 7pm Adult Church League Softball tonight: A.P.
