Amateur Baseball:

Lake City 5 Caledonia 0- The Serpents beat the Sox behind a great pitching performance from Alex Klug, who tossed a complete game four hitter with six strike outs.

Brett Gwaltney led the offense by going 3-4 with four RBI. 

The Serpents are 21-3 on the season and play at Hayfield Saturday and travel to Pine Island Sunday.

Tonight:

Red Wing Aces at Shakopee Indians 6pm in the Shakopee tournament-  The Aces are 22-10 on the season with four straight wins.  Red Wing continues play in the Shakopee tournament Saturday at 11:30am against the Rochester Royals and then plays the St. Cloud Snappers in a second game  in the tourney.  The Aces return home to host Hampton Sunday in a CCVL matchup on Bluff Country 1250 KCUE and on the web at www.1250kcue.com with the pre-game show at 1:45pm and the first pitch at 2pm.

American Legion Baseball:

Faribault 4 Red Wing 3- Post 54's tough loss to Faribault at the Athletic Field pretty much ended their chances of making the Legion playoffs.

Red Wing committed three errors and left eight runners on base.  Justin Lance tossed a complete game with nine strike outs and one walk but took the tough luck loss.  Lance also added a two run double at the plate.  Alex Quiding had the other RBI for Red Wing.

Post 54 was scheduled to play Lonsdale today but Lonsdale has already forfeited the game because of a lack of players.  Red Wing finishes the year at 8-14.

Ice is Nice!

The Red Wing Wingers boys high school hockey team plays their first set of scrimmages under new head coach Mike Belisle Saturday at 10am in the Jamboree at Prairie Island Arena.  The Wingers face three different opponents.  Red Wing Wing has another Jamboreee Thursday, July 22 starting at 6pm and Saturday, July 24th starting at 10am at Prairie Island Arena.

VFW Baseball:

The Red Wing VFW baseball team hosts a three team first round district tournament this weekend at the Red Wing Athletic Field.  Red Wing plays at 1:30pm Saturday and will play again at about 4pm.  Red Wing will play again Sunday and if they win would advance to the district final four next week with a good chance of hosting that tourney as well.

Red Wing is 19-1 on the season.  Varsity high school baseball coach Jim Bohmbach is also the VFW coach with Neal Newman his assistant coach.
