Girls Tennis:

The Red Wing Wingers competed in the Edina doubles tournament Wednesday against some of the best teams in the state.

The highlight was a win for the Wingers duo of Danielle Brooks and Marisa Toivonen 6-1, 6-4 over Edina's #2 doubles team.

The Wingers are back in action today with a home match against Rochester John Marshall.

Football:

The Ellsworth Panthers open the season tonight at Elk Mound at 7pm.  The Panthers are looking to rebound from an 0-9 season in 2009.

Most of the other area teams in Wisconsin start their seasons Friday night.  Cochrane-Fountain City plays at Pepin-Alma, New Richmond is at River Falls, Prescott at Mondovi, Spring Valley plays Plum City at UW-Stout in the BP Classic and West Salem is at Durand.

Minnesota high school football starts next week with most of the area schools having scrimmages this Saturday.  Red Wing will scrimmage with Stewartville and Winona in Winona.

Cross Country:

Red Wing boys and girls cross country opens the season today with a meet at River Falls.

Girls Soccer: Rochester Lourdes at Lake City

Volleyball: Zumbrota-Mazeppa at Rochester Mayo, Ellsworth at Hudson.  The Red Wing  Wingers open their season at Goodhue Friday at 7pm.

Girls Swimming and Diving: Red Wing opens the season Friday against River Falls at 6pm at the Twin Bluff Middle School pool.
