High School Football:

Elk Mound 21 Ellsworth 7-The Mounders scored three first quarter touchdowns to sprint to a 21-0 lead and held off the Panthers in the season opener at Elk Mound.  Tanner Eggenberger's 3 yard touchdown run in the second quarter was the only score for Ellsworth.

Tonight's area games: Cochrane-Fountain City at Pepin-Alma, Spring Valley vs. Plum City at UW-Stout, West Salem at Durand, New Richond at River Falls, Hayward at Baldwin-Woodville

Girls Tennis:

Red Wing 5 Rochester John Marshall2-The Wingers split four singles matches but won all three doubles matches.  Red Wing hosts a quadrangular Saturday with Cretin Derham-Hall, Andover and Wayzata.

Girls tennis today has Cannon Falls at Farmington.

Volleyball:

Rochester Mayo 3 Zumbrota-Mazeppa 1, Wabasha-Kellogg 3 Byron 0

Volleyball tonight:: Red Wing at Goodhue 7pm

Girls Soccer:

Rochester Lourdes 10 Lake City 1 (Kaylee Becker had Lake City's lone goal)

Girls soccer today: Pine Island-Zumbrota-Mazeppa at Dover-Eyota

Boys Soccer:

Red Wing hosts Faribault in their season opener at 7pm, Schaeffer Academy plays at Lake City at 7pm in the Tigers opener while Pine Island-Zumbrota-Mazeppa is at Plainview-Elgin-Millville

Girls Swimming and Diving:

Red Wing hosts River Falls at 6pm at the Twin Bluff Middle School pool in Sue Forsberg's varsity coaching debut for the Wingers.

Cross Country:

The Red Wing Wingers boys were first while the girls were fourth in the 15 team River Falls Extreme Meet Thursday.

Bryant Blahnik was first overall for the Wingers with teammate Christian Anderson secondand Christian Leitner third.  Kelsee Anderson's fifth place finish led the Winger girls.
