Cross Country: Wingers win in Wabasha

The Rred Wing Wingers boys and girls cross country teams won their meet at Coffee Mill Golf Club in Wabasha Monday.

The boys total of 29 points was 23 points ahead of defending state Class "A" champion Plainview-Elgin-Millville.  Bryant Blahnik was first overall for Red Wing with teammate Max Christianson third.

The Red Wing Wing girls were paced by Kelsee Anderson's first place finish.  Cori Fairbanks was third and Hailee Johnson fifth overall.

Boys Soccer:

Red Wing 1 Plainview-Elgin-Millville 1-Kevin Horn scored for PEM in the first half with Tyler Bystrom getting the equalizer in the second half for Red Wing.  Aaron Grave had 12 saves in goal for the Wingers, who are 0-0-2 on the season.

Boys soccer tonight: Lake City at Pine Island-Zumbrota-Mazeppa

Girls Soccer:

Byron 4 Red Wing 0-The Bears blanked the Wingers Monday night in Byron, scoring three of their goals in the first half.  Goalkeeper Sierra Furlong had 17 saves for Red Wing in their opening game.

Dover-Eyota 4 Lake City 2-Kaylee Becker scored both goals for Lake City

Volleyball:

Lake City 3 Dover-Eyota 0-The Tigers won their opener 25-15, 27-25, 25-17

Tonight in area volleyball it's Lake City at Plainview-Elgin-Millville, Cannon Falls at Red Wing, Zumbrota-Mazeppa at St. Charles, Ellsworth at Elmwood, Rochester John Marshall at Kenyon-Wanamingo.

Girls Tennis today:

Red Wing at Hastings, Lake City at Ellsworth, Rochester Lourdes at Cannon Falls

Girls Swimming and Diving:

Red Wing at Farmington
