Football: Red Wing 19 Austin 0-The Wingers broke their 22 game losing streak Friday night by beating the Packers in their opener in Red Wing. Mike Stegora's 11 yard touchdown run capped an 11 play, 70 yard opening drive to put the Wingers on top 6-0 with 5:39 to play in the first quarter. Kaleb Cushing's interception late in the second quarter gave Red Wing great field position at the Packers 15 yard line and a couple of plays later Alex Quiding hauled in a 16 yard touchdown pass from Joel Newman to put the Wingers up 12-0 with 1:25 left in the half. The Wingers defense continued to shut down the Packers in the second half and Red Wing out the game away on Newman's 22 yard pass to Quiding early in the fourth quarter with Marcus Nosen adding the extra point. The Wingers rushed for 145 yards on 40 carries. Marcus Noesen had 54 yards, Coleman Kelly 47 yards and Mike Stegora 44 yards on the gorund. Joel newman was 3-7 passing for 53 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The Wingers held Austin to 47 yards of total offense and just three first downs. Goodhue 48 Lake City 13-The Wildcats rolled to a 28-0 lead after the first quarter and led 41-0 at the half in cruising to the win at Lake City. Jared Dicke rushed for 112 yards and three touchdown runs...a 67 yard burst and a pair of one yard scores.
